European Film Award for
Norwegian Feature Film Project

Prime4KidsandFamily Award 2011PRIMEHOUSE is delighted to announce the awarding of the brand new European PRIME4Kids&Family Award to the Norwegian feature film project From Mice to Men, written by Arild Tryggestad and produced by the Norwegian Production company Filmbin AS. The scriptwriter together with the junior producer Nicholas Sando received the award at the market closing of the international Cinekid film festival in Amsterdam Thursday evening.

“I am incredibly happy and surprised to be given this award. Just being nominated was very exciting, but that we actually won is more than I dared to hope for. This is a film project that we wish to go into shooting within summer 2013, so now we hope that the final financing will come together in order to be able to realise this script into film”, says Arild Tryggestad.

From Mice to Men will be awarded as the most promising project out of the 15 participating projects of Eu funded PRIME4Kids&Family development workshop 2010. “We hope this award will foster the collaboration between the different disciplines from classical screenwriting to the creation of content for interactive media. In our perspective, cross-media production, especially in the sector of Child and Family Entertainment, is the only way not to lose the children and youth audiences” Frank Stehling, founder and CEO of Primehouse said.

The P4K&F Award is the first European award dedicated to European Screen-writers for feature film as well as for authors from the fields of Animation, Television and interactive Media projects focused on child and family audiences. The project was selected from EU’s Media Programme workshop Prime 4Kids&Family. The Prime 4Kids&Family workshop is implemented by Primehouse and has been running now for over 10 years and supported more than 150 projects.

From Mice to Men will be directed by Christian Lo who has his debut in 2009 with the feature film Rafiki (original title Bestevenner), that was nominated for the Crystal Bear in Berlin 2010, and has won a number of awards including “Norwegian Children Film of the Year” awarded by the Norwegian Cinema Director’s Association.

From Mice to Men is a coming-of-age film about Daniel (12) and his two best friends who have just finished Primary School. They have great expectations towards starting Secondary School, meanwhile they are worried that they will be “eaten alive” – because they are too childish. The boys feel they need to become men and decide that each of them will take on three challenges during the summer holiday; kiss a girl, drink a beer, and touch a boob. Everything is set for the best summer ever. There is just one problem; Mari.

From Mice to Men is scriptwriter Arild Tryggestad’s first feature film script. He has previously written the short films Gutta Boys (director: Roar Uthaug) and Iver (director: Christian Lo). Arild graduated as an editor from the Norwegian Film School in 2004, and has since edited feature films, short films, documentaries, music videos, coomercials as well as the Emmy-nominated tv-series for children; Ping Pong (director: Lisa M. Gamlem).
